I'm trying to get gd3asset to run on current macOS (10.13.5) and haven't found a recipe that works for me.
This has come up once or twice in the past, but the wisdom I could find in those threads doesn't seem to work these days.
I've got Python 2.7 installed (default OS component), and the gd2 library installation goes fine:
I can then run gd3asset, but am told I don't have PIL installed "ImportError: No module named Image"
So I go to install PIL, but I can't find a current distro of it:
I then install Pillow instead:
But I still get the "No module named Image" error trying to run gd3asset.
So how can I get a valid installation of the Image package?
Is it actually installed but this is a search path type issue?
Do I need to go dig for an old distro of PIL? Any particular version?
Thanks!

$ python --version
Python 2.7.10
$ sudo easy_install -U gameduino2
Searching for gameduino2
Reading https://pypi.python.org/simple/gameduino2/
Best match: gameduino2 0.2.4
Processing gameduino2-0.2.4-py2.7.egg
gameduino2 0.2.4 is already the active version in easy-install.pth
Installing gd3asset script to /usr/local/bin
Installing gd2asset script to /usr/local/bin
Using /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/gameduino2-0.2.4-py2.7.egg
Processing dependencies for gameduino2

$ gd3asset
… snip …
ImportError: No module named Image

$ sudo pip install PIL
Collecting PIL
Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement PIL (from versions: )
No matching distribution found for PIL
I then install Pillow instead:
$ sudo pip install pillow
… snip …
Successfully installed pillow-5.1.0
But I still get the "No module named Image" error trying to run gd3asset.
