On the Mega2560 I can access all the serial pins as well as many spare pins and can connect other modules like bluetooth serial and led strips simply controlled by the widgets. Obviously the UNO seems to have no free pins so is it limited in that way?

On the Uno, Gameduino 2 uses digital pins 2,8,9 and analog pins A0,A1,A2. All other pins are available for your use.

GD.begin(); kills my Serial connection on an Uno. Any idea why? Thanks!

It could be a power problem. Some people have reported strange startup behaviour, then switched USB cables/ports and suddenly everything works. GD2 needs a good amount of current for its backlight, so a high-quality USB cable and a full-power port are necessary.

Try GD.Begin() instead of GD.begin() !!!!!

Otis, were you ever able to get this resolved? I'm having the same exact issue.

Btw, this will happen even without the GD2 plugged in. If GD.begin() is called, serial stops. If that line is commented out, serial works fine.

Check your power cable. What is happening is that the current draw from the backlight starting is causing a voltage dip, which crashes the Arduino. Some causes: - USB cable - try another USB cable
- USB port - try a different USB port or a powered USB hub
Several people have reported this trouble when powering their Arduino from a Macbook's USB port.
