Got the Gameduino 2 shield yesterday and mated it with a UNO.
All fine and I could get the HELLO WORLD demo working. Happy !!
Now take a Strontium 8GB ( Class 8 ) Micro SD card , format it with the SD Formatter utility and plug it in.
Sadly with the SDcard plugged in, NO OTHER demo except the HELLO WORLD works ? I am very keen to start working with the WIDGETS demo but the SD card prevents it. ( I even tried to copy all the files from Gameduino2sd.zip)
Graphics is new topic to me so maybe I am missing out something basic. What exactly is that ??

Sounds like an SD card compatibility problem. (You did copy all the assets on to the card from this zip file? excamera.com/files/Gameduino2sd.zip ) As tftlcdcyg suggests, another card is probably the first thing to try. By the way, "widgets" does not actually need the microSD card, so if you change the line in setup() from: GD.begin(); to: GD.begin(0); then widgets will run with no SD card.

Thanks for the inputs - will try a different SDcard and as well the GD.begin(0) idea.
Incidentally is it OK to have other non GD related files apart from the GD files on the SD Card ? Meaning should I use a freshly formatted card with only the GD files ??

Yes, having other files on the card doesn't cause a problem.
Oh, and one other thing to check - the card should be formatted FAT32.
