Discovered Gameduino while researching FT800 online. Very impressed with your documentation particularly the Tutorial, Reference and Cookbook. Teaching and learning with examples is the best!! I am using an FTDI VM800B43A with an Arduino Duemilanove(ATMEGA 328) successfully. Achieved a "rightside up" display with PROTO = 1 and removing line 105 (REG_SWIZZLE,3) write. All seems fine. Have run several example sketches. Intrigued with the "Asset Converter". Tried all six GRAPHICS sketches and only "walk" runs!! Possibly because the bitmap is included in the asset.h file? What and where is 'GD.safeload'?? What and where is eg. "mono.gd2"?? Can these 5 sketches run without Asset Converter installed?? Which I have not been able to successfully install. Maybe an update, clarification and smoothing out of the installation process is due?? Python27 installed. Some problems with the PIL. When run, the converter spits out 10 or 12 messages and cannot complete. Comments???

Hi, Thanks for these comments! OK, from the sound of it the sketches that don't work are the ones that access microSD card. That is what GD.safeload() is - it loads assets from the SD card into the Gameduino. Some sketches fit their graphics into memory. Some don't - and IIRC the VM800B does not have a SD card slot. There are a lot of shields that have microSD, adding any one of these should get things running. www.sparkfun.com/products/12761The above doesn't have anything to do with the asset converter, since all the example sketches have their graphics already compiled. The asset converter is for new graphics. If you post the message you are seeing (and the OS) then it might be possible to see what has gone wrong.

Thanks for your reply. I should read more entries in the forum. You helped out "warren" back in March and informed him of your Windows executable via gd2asset.exe. I downloaded this and it works like a dream. You should wildly wave some flags about this program!!! The only sticky point is a message: FT_Stream_Open: could not open 'tahomabd.ttf' but, nevertheless compiled the asset.h file. I wished to have a Tahoma font conversion.
