Can't get screen to turn on

I cannot get the screen to display the code I have written.

In the header file I have FT_801 enabled and that is the chip.

Using the same wire configuration I got the FT 813 to work but strangely only the back light is showing.

UPDATE:

So some interaction between the hardware and software is happening with the code I am able to effect the brightness of the backlight.I am unable to get graphics to display however.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have one of those hotmcu screens and I also cant get the screen to turn on... Trying to do some testing on it...
