Hi Byron,
What version of the Arduino IDE are you using? What Arduino board are you using?
When you installed the library, did you follow the instructions on p. 12 of the Gameduino 2 book?

I am using the Arduino 1.5.7 IDE, Arduino UNO. I followed the instructions from the good book you wrote.

Did you install the Gameduino2.zip library?
To do this select - Sketch
- Import Library...
- Add Library...
- then choose the Gameduino2.zip file, wherever you have downloaded it

OK, so to remove the old version depends on your OS.
On Windows delete the folder:
My Documents\Arduino\libraries\Gameduino2 On Mac delete
Documents/Arduino/libraries/Gameduino2 Then try to install the zip again.
What OS are you using, by the way?

Hmm, okay. This might be some electrical issue.
I suggest using "selftest" as a test program - it can diagnose more about the running system.
First, check the connection between Arduino and the Gameduino 2. Make sure that all the pins are aligned properly.
Second, try another USB cable, and/or USB port. The LCD's backlight uses a lot of juice, so a good quality USB cable is needed.

Yes, either Uno or Duemilanove should work fine.
But what isn't working? What is showing a half black and half white screen?
