Been playing around with the idea of making a MIDI music player and music creator. The idea originally stemmed from wanting to make a customized MP3 player that played music from all formats using something like the Adafruit Music Maker and Gameduino 2, but crossing platforms/shields is something I may look to later. I'm just starting out and a little overwhelmed at the prospect of even starting since I have little to no understanding yet of electronics and programming, but I was hoping to get some feedback on the idea and see what others thought on the best approach to the project and where to start, thus possibly avoiding floundering due to no real sense of direction on the project. In terms of using the MIDI format, I felt that just using the Gameduino 2 should suffice.
I know the Gameduino 2 comes with the sample instruments, and I was curious if this system could be expanded upon in terms of music creation. I think this would be a start to the project, as well as designing a graphic interface to catalog and play music similar to an MP3 player. I'd like to add other features but starting with those two components would be a pretty big start to the project.
At any rate: thoughts, advice, constructive criticism, and questions welcome.
